Chiropractic

Chiropractors specialise in the diagnosis and treatment of conditions which are due to mechanical dysfunction of the joints, especially those of the spine, and their effects on the nervous system.Chiropractors use their hands to adjust the joints of your spine and other areas of the body where signs of restrictions in movement are found. This improves mobility and relieves pain. Poor, inadequate or incorrect function of the spine can cause irritation of the nerves that control your posture and movement. By adjusting joints, chiropractors stimulate the joint movement receptors affecting the way your nervous system works.

Caragh Pittam B.Sc.(Hons.), D.C, LRCC.

– FOUNDER & DIRECTOR –

Caragh graduated in 1983 from the AECC (Anglo European College of Chiropractic) in Bournemouth, Dorset after graduating from Southampton University in 1980 with a degree in Physiology and Biochemistry. Caragh uses soft tissue work and diversified chiropractic techniques to treat a range of spinal and joint problems. Caragh also uses SOT (Sacro Occipital Technique).

She treats all kinds of pain syndromes, especially difficult cases that have been resistant to other forms of therapies, or diagnosis, and treats not only the spine but all other joints, muscles, ligaments of the body and therefore helps many sporting and dance injuries.

Caragh treats children and adults alike and her oldest patient was 100 years old.  Caragh is a traditional chiropractor and only uses ‘hands on treatment’.

What to expect

On first meeting you, the chiropractor will take a detailed history of your health, your reasons for seeking a consultation and a full examination will then be undertaken.

Sometimes treatment is immediate, at other times it may be necessary to seek further information from your GP, or to arrange x-rays, blood or urine tests. Your individual needs and your role in the treatment plan will be discussed and considered with you at all times.

Chiropractic care mainly involves treatment by manipulation to the joints of the spine or other areas of the body. Most often this involves a short impulse to the joint, resulting in an audible ‘crack’ as the joint is released, bringing relief of symptoms. The crack is simply the sound of bubbles of gas popping in the fluid of the joint as the pressure is released. This is known as an ‘adjustment.’

Generally, chiropractic treatment does not hurt, although there may be some minor short-term discomfort, which quickly passes for most patients.

You will find that ensuing treatments are easier as you start to find your symptoms are subsiding.

What people say about us

“Caragh is very experienced and professional, but I knew, as soon as she laid her hands on me, that what makes her really good at her job, is the fact that she is honest and she genuinely cares. I trust her and would recommend her to anyone I love.”

– A. Cooper –

“I’d been having problems with my knee for almost 5 years; I couldn’t play football for more than 20 mins without having to stop. After just 3 sessions with Caragh I played a full game today without having any issues at all. Caragh’s literally a chiropractic magician!

– Albert Oliver –

“I was in considerable pain and my daughter, who previously attended this practice, suggested i make an appointment with Caragh. From the outset I received a very friendly and professional service and would recommend this practice to all my friends and family.”
